5 years ago this evening-about 8:30pm-I gave birth to this beauty of a girl! She has brought so much light and laughter into our lives. Scharae loves to smile. Most often her smile is a bit crooked-the orthodontist says to start saving now because she's going to need to have some work done to stave off jaw problems in the future! And she often can be found smiling with her finger touching her teeth if you've instructed her to "show your teeth!" for the camera. She loves her tongue-it's very long and if you ask her about it she'll show you just how long it is (long like a cow's where it can touch her nose).
Scharae loves to learn. She knows all her ABC's and the sounds they make and if she's in the right mood she'll even write them all out for you. I know she could be reading short easy books by now if she really wanted to. But why would she want to when she can just ask her big sister to read to her?
She is the star of her preschool class and is super excited to be going in to Kindergarten next year. In fact she believes that since she's 5 now, she should start Kindergarten tomorrow. I'll appease her by taking her in to help out in Keira's class with me a few times between now and the end of the year.
Scharae loves music. On Friday she was a bit under the weather so she and John stayed home from school/work. He was working in the bedroom when he realized that she'd turned off the TV and was out in the living room singing to herself. So he put the tape recorder out there to record her for like 10 minutes. She just never stops singing! Some of the songs are real songs and some are made up and are based off of whatever she sees or is doing at the time.
Scharae is a big helper. She loves to clean-vacuum and dust most of all. In fact she and Keira "went to Holland" and dusted it all out on Friday! (Mom is redecorating her upstairs room to be blue and white with a lot of her Dutch stuff in it and they were pretending they were in Holland)
She is a big cuddler. Even at 5 she still believes she's a little lap dog, so to speak. I don't think this girl will ever get too big to snuggle with her mama or daddy. Hand her a scrap of her blankie and she's ready to climb on up and curl into a little ball in your lap.
Scharae is really just such a sweet joy to have in our family. Sure, we have our rough days. And yes, I have been known to say that if she had been our first child we would have had a bit more motivation to wait before #2 came along. She was a very high maintenance infant, especially in comparison to Keira. But she is so worth it. We love her very much and are so happy to get to be her parents!

happy birthday scharae! love all the old pics.
