6 x-rays later...

This isn't Keira's leg. But it could be. At least the femur could be, not the tibia. 

We spent 3 hours at the doctor's office today. I was just ready to ask if we could leave for lunch and then come back when the doctor we were seeing came in and suggested we leave and come back if needed.

Yesterday Keira was every now and then complaining about her right leg hurting. Not often, but enough for me to take notice. And by the time she went to bed it was more often and she was limping a bit. This morning when she got up she wouldn't hardly walk on it and it hurt her every time she moved her leg. So off to the doctor we went.

It wasn't her normal doctor because he was full up, but I didn't really want to wait until Tuesday to be able to see him specifically. In the end we did end up seeing him briefly a few times. 

Keira had 6 x-rays done on her right leg. Her right femur bows out like the one in the picture above but then it turns back downward a bit more than that one does. There isn't an obvious fracture in the bone, but it's very possible she has what they called a greenstick fracture and they said it would be a "really big deal" to fix/take care of which implied surgery and casting of major proportions.

She was examined by 3 different pediatricians, including Dr. Rey-Rosa, her regular pedi. The films (ha! I say films but it's all digital now so there aren't any actual physical films to speak of!) were viewed by those 3 pedis and a pedi radiologist before finally being forwarded to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. This is what took so long. He was on the road between locations and had to get to a computer to take a look.

About an hour after we left I got a call to let me know that there's a possibility this is an abnormal growth deviation that needs attention, a greenstick fracture that needs attention, or else it is an abnormal growth deviation that is "normal" for her which would be left alone. If the pain goes away by Monday it's almost definitely the latter and was rooted in a muscle strain or a sprain of some kind. If the pain is still there on Monday it's going to likely be one of the first two possibilities.

So to pass the time we're loading her up on ibuprofen and basically letting her call the shots on how much/what she's doing. Starting with us heading up to Puyallup area tomorrow to meet up with John's aunt and cousin and go visit a pumpkin farm!
